I hope all is well with you and your family during this holiday season. First of all, I want to thank you for all the work you have put into this campaign. Words cannot describe the gratitude I have for you and all your support.

I have done a lot of reflecting since the outcome of the election. The election results were not what we wanted. I ran for State Superintendent of Education because I saw that we needed a real change in South Carolina. We needed, and still need, to do everything we can to ensure every child gets a high-quality education. We needed, and still need, to ensure that every classroom has a high-quality teacher. The fight is not over. I do not have plans at this time to run again for this position. The next election will be in 2026 and a lot can happen between now and then. However, I can assure you that I am not giving up.

I can tell you that I am now more concerned about the future of public education than ever before. To continue to advocate for a strong public education system, I have returned to my role as chairwoman of SC for Ed. This organization will continue to advocate for a high-quality teacher in every classroom.

During the campaign, one of the many lessons that I learned is that advocating and getting the correct message out takes time, money, and commitment. I urge you to get involved with a local or statewide advocacy organization. If you are interested in supporting SC for Ed you can do so with your time, money, and/or commitment by visiting

I also ask you to stay encouraged. Positive change will come to South Carolina; we just have to put in the hard work. Show up to school board meetings, speak up when you see something happening, and encourage others to speak up. Talk to teachers you know about their experiences and ask how you can support them.

We cannot wait until an election year to put in the time and effort. Please stay involved. If you need to contact me in the future, please do so through SC for Ed. Our email will shut down and our social media pages and website will be archived.

Thank you again for everything. I am and will continue to be grateful for your support.
